Story of a Dom Church
--Click for details...
The
CBF Dom Gypsy team ministers to Gypsies in North Africa and the
Middle East.
Few people realize that the
Gypsies are a distinct ethnic group. Gypsy is the general English
term to describe a large, ethno-linguistic group. In their
homeland of India, they were originally called Dom, meaning
"man." Today, in the Middle East and North Africa, they
still identify themselves as Dom.
Many Dom are nominally Muslim, going to the mosque only when forced to do so. Others hold to the mystical
beliefs of their forefathers. In the past, tattooing served several functions, one of which was protection against evil. One can see that
the Dom are on a spiritual journey, but there are many religious voices seeking to persuade them. The message of Christ has touched the
lives of many Dom. We invite you to use the information on this website to pray for the Dom as they continue their spiritual journey.
